If you’re a hayfever sufferer, you’re probably not sharing my enthusiasm for spring’s arrival. If spring means not being able to go outside without anti-histamines close by, this is a simple home remedy that is well worth a try.
Elderflowers unclog sinuses, ears and running noses and strengthen the immune system in a way that helps it figure out what it should and should not be waging a war against.
It’s a weed in Australia, so if you have it growing nearby consider yourself lucky, the sprays of its lace like flowers are simply beautiful too!
- Take 1 part elderflowers* (if using fresh, chop finely)
- Combine with two parts local honey
- Stir until well combined.
- It can be used straight away.
*You can purchase beautiful quality elderflowers from Greg and Libby at Tasmanian Highland Herbs
Have 1-2 teaspoons a day (1/2-1 tsp for kids), you can spread on toast, use in tea, enjoy with berries...whatever you can dream up!
If you’re unable to get your hands on any elderflowers, not to worry, just have a teaspoon of local honey a day and you will receive great benefit.
