Captain Creek Organic Farm
Farmer: Rod May
Captain's Creek Organic Farm has been carved out of the basaltic plains of central Victoria. Rising on the May family farm, Captain's Creek feeds both the Loddon and Murray Rivers. The farm has been in the family for over a hundred years. Twenty-five years ago Rod started to look for a new model of farming and the Captains Creek Farm started its evolution into a permaculture farm.
Rod produces and supplies us with: Potatoes, beets, kale, lettuce, broccoli, corn, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, cauliflower, apples, plums, chestnuts, leeks, basil, daikon, carrots and more.
Koo Ree Rup, VIC
Farmers: Morry and Maria Cafra
Cafresco Organics is a family-owned and operated farm specialising in asparagus and artichokes. They are located on the fertile Koo Ree Rup swamp. They drain and manage the land producing many types of tasty veggies using incredible compost they produce themselves.
Morry and Maria produce and supply us with: Asparagus, artichokes, tomatoes, eggplants, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbages, fennel, lettuce, beans, corn and more.
Farmers: Jan Denham and Rob Ridgwell
Jan and her partner Rob are organic pioneers. They started their orange operation 20 years ago and today their company is one of the largest organic citrus growers in Australia.
Jan and Rob produce and supply us with: Oranges, mandarins, pumpkin, zucchini, kohlrabi and more.
Farmer: Liz Burns
Trewhella Farm is a certified biodynamic property that grows a diverse range of berries, herbs and bushfoods. Located in the picturesque Central Highlands of Victoria (less than ten minutes from Daylesford), the farm has rich red volcanic soil and, at 700 metres above sea level, receives excellent rainfall. A small herd of Dexter cattle graze the paddocks, and their happy hens provide fresh eggs available for purchase when they have excess. A beehive situated amongst the berries ensures the berry flowers are pollinated, as well as producing a uniquely flavoured honey available from the farm shop.
Liz produces and supplies us with: Raspberries, blueberries, sylvain berries and more.
Black Raven Farm
Farmer: Ron McIntyre
Ron produces and supplies us with: Swiss Brown mushrooms, white mushrooms, garlic, free range eggs, organically grown seasonal vegetables and wild harvests, and when in season (usually April - June) Pine and Slippery Jack mushrooms.
